**Thai Youth Team Triumphs at UDO World Street Dance Championships 2024**
From August 13 to 18, 2024, a youth team from Thailand, led by Dr. Nui-Kesarin Ektawatkul, with the support of UDO Thailand’s management team, Ronnakrit Kraikitrat and Jarvey Dela Paz traveled to Blackpool, England, to compete in the UDO World Street Dance Championships 2024. This year, the Thai youth team showcased their talent and skills, bringing home the prestigious world championship title.
The Good Dance Good Mind (GDGM) team from Thailand impressed the judges and audience at the Winter Gardens Hall in Blackpool, securing the world championship in the Team Performance Intermediate category (for ages under 12). In addition to the world title, the team won several other accolades. Notably, they secured the 1st runner-up position in the Duo category (for ages under 10), thanks to the performances of Fen and Gusjung. Fen also achieved a 2nd runner-up position in the Solo category (for ages under 10), while Gusjung was the 6th runner-up in the same category. Vicky, another team member, placed 6th in the Solo category for ages under 12.
Dr. Nui-Kesarin, the manager of GDGM, expressed her gratitude, saying, “I want to thank the parents and children for their dedication and hard work. In addition to GDGM from Bangkok, another Thai team, MYDA CREW from Chiang Rai, also made their mark by securing the 2nd runner-up position in the Team Performance Novice category (Over 18). The team competed against over 20 teams worldwide. Members of MYDA CREW included Supapich Kanyathong, Napat Boonprakob, Wachiraya Namwong, Supakan Panyapon, and Thanapupan Wongatachai.
MYDA CREW also achieved remarkable success in individual categories. Napat Boonprakob emerged as the world champion in the Solo Over 18 Beginner category, while Wachiraya Namwong was the 1st runner-up. Thanapupan Wongatachai placed 5th, and Supakan Panyapon made it to the Top 16 globally. In the Duo Over 18 Beginner category, MYDA CREW’s pairs of Napat Boonprakob and Wachiraya Namwong, as well as Supakan Panyapon and Thanapupan Wongatachai, both ranked in the Top 7-8.
Coaches Saimake Puengudom and Pattarasaya Mala dedicated their time and expertise to training MYDA CREW, enabling the team to bring pride to Chiang Rai and Thailand.
The UDO World Street Dance Championships 2024 was one of the most fiercely contested events, with over 300 teams from various countries showcasing their unique dance styles and routines. MYDA CREW’s impressive performance captivated both the judges and the audience with their creativity, coordination, and energy.
These achievements reflect not only the dancers’ skills but also their unwavering passion and commitment to street dance. The journey to the world championship was marked by intense training, local competitions, and numerous rehearsals, highlighting their all-around capabilities as performers. The team’s dedication to excellence was evident in every move they made on stage.
